The Planet Acetate Show

The Planet Acetate show first aired on Kane FM back in February 2012 and is a platform for flourishing House label “Planet Acetate Records“. The show hosted by Tank Edwards originally went live Thursday afternoons at 2pm and its core purpose was to inject interest surrounding the labels releases, but more importantly to showcase the rapidly growing house genres Indie Dance & Nu Disco.

Tank explains – { I was getting disillusioned with the modern house scene where the traditional vibe and sounds from around 89 – 93 were getting over shadowed by the commercial forces of EDM. I totally understand music has to move forward but this new wave of music had rapidly saturated the market and I felt it lacked soul and feeling …However! I wasn’t willing to put my slippers on and retire. At the back end of 2011 we had already signed a number of formidable producers creating music I really believed in due to thier OldSkool, Disco, Funk and Deep house influences, so I was a little shocked when our tracks were aired and supported as quickly as they were by the industries big guns Pete Tong, The Magician, Sister Bliss and Solomon on Radio 1.

Bookings of our artists started to flood in and interestingly the trend for our music was from the Northern regions of the UK such as Manchester Liverpool etc. I knew from previous gigs years ago these cities have always been at the forefront of dance music although on my next few visits the sound had dramatically changed to this awesome sound we now know as Nu Disco a fusion of all the house genres with no boundaries, no commercialism just infectious deep warehouse grooves with floor shattering disco b’lines.

Being the extravert that I am, I wanted to promptly share my love for this genre that was starting to change a stale house scene and The Planet Acetate Show on Kane FM was my opportunity to do so.}

Fast forward to 2013 and Planet Acetate Records has an impressive roster of accomplished artists on their roster regularly charting on Beatports Top 100 including: Jon Pleased Wimmin, Him_Self_Her, SlimPhatty, Jelly For The Babies, Dan Clare, Jorge Prida, James Starkie, Baunzz and of course Tank.
